Finland’s transport minister, Sanna Marin, has been selected to be the country's Prime Minister, making her the world's youngest state leaders.
The 34-year-old narrowly won a vote among the party leadership and will replace outgoing leader Antti Rinne.
"We have a lot of work ahead to rebuild trust," Marin told reporters, adding, "I have never thought about my age or gender, I think of the reasons I got into politics and those things for which we have won the trust of the electorate."
Marin is expected to be sworn in this week, and will lead a centre-left coalition of five parties all headed by women.
