As many as 8,713 rental disputes with a combined value of AED 2.53 billion were resolved in Dubai during the first half of 2021.

The Dubai Land Department's Rental Disputes Centre (RDC) settled the cases amicably within seven days, on average.

The RDC has been encouraging the stakeholders to resolve their disputes amicably, before reaching arbitration.

Meanwhile, 61,555 primary rental cases were resolved from 2015 to 2020, representing just 2 per cent of the total number of documented Ejari contracts (4,280,292 contracts) registered with the DLD during the same period.

The DLD said this shows the community's confidence in the laws and legislative system in the emirate.

The RDC is currently working on the first-of-its-kind 'Court Probe' project, which is litigation without a judge, using artificial intelligence technology.

"All of RDC's services will be provided in a smart and interactive manner, within an integrated platform and without staff," said Judge Abdulqader Mousa, Director of RDC.
