Britney Spears to receive Billboard Millennium Award

Britney Spears will receive the Millennium Award at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The 34-year-old singer - who has previously won six Billboard Music Awards and had six albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart - will be presented with the prestigious prize at a ceremony at the Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 22. Billboard's Millennium Awards acknowledge outstanding career achievements and influence in the music industry and were previously presented to Beyoncé Knowles in 2011 and Whitney Houston in 2012. Britney will also perform a medley of her hits at the ceremony, which will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara. It was previously revealed that show producers were eager to get the pop beauty to make a massive comeback on the night because she was guaranteed to bring in "massive ratings". A source said: "Everyone knows Britney brings in massive ratings, so it was a no-brainer for producers to try and get her on board." It would be ideal timing for the star to perform with her new single 'Make Me (Oooh)' expected to drop two days before on May 20. The insider added: "With her new single dropping a couple of days before the show timing couldn't be more perfect. "She is in the best shape of her life so the performance is set to be a massive return to the top."
