Drake buys Rihanna a billboard

Drake surprised Rihanna with a billboard. The One Dance hitmaker congratulated the chart sensation on the news she's to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards by purchasing her a huge sign - usually reserved for road-side advertisements - emblazoned with the words 'Congratulations to Rihanna from Drake and everyone at OVO.' The 28-year-old star couldn't hide her delight when she shared a picture of her personalised billboard on Instagram and captioned it: "When he extra" alongside an emoji of a trophy. The cute gesture has set tongues wagging that the pair - who used to be an item - are secretly dating again and there's no doubt that they're still extremely close, given Drake's recent display of affection. What's more, they've collaborated on a number of love tracks - most recently 'Work' and 'Too Good' and previously 'Take Care' and 'What's My Name' - and the 29-year-old Canadian rapper and Bajan singer have outrageously flirted on stage throughout Rihanna's 'Anti World Tour'. Meanwhile, Rihanna will also perform live at the VMAs tomorrow (28.08.16) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where she's being recognised for her "decade-long impact on music, pop culture, fashion, film and philanthropy" MTV explained. Rihanna tweeted after the announcement: "Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28! (sic)" Previous recipients of the coveted award include the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Kanye West. MTV explained: "Rihanna's unparalleled output of hits have spawned some of today's most memorable music videos from 'Umbrella' to 'We Found Love,' 'Diamonds' and her most recent collaboration with Drake on 'Work'." The star has previously won two Video Music Awards and sold more than 61 million albums, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time.
