Ed Sheeran confirms role in Bridget Jones movie

Ed Sheeran has confirmed his cameo role in the forthcoming 'Bridget Jones' sequel. The 24-year-old singer spent Monday (23.11.15) shooting scenes with Renée Zellweger, who is returning as the titular character for a third outing. It is not yet known if Ed is playing himself or a fictional character but he has promised fans they are "gonna love" the movie. In a Twitter post, he revealed: "Spent the day being an actor in the new Bridget Jones movie. Loved it, you're gonna love it too... (sic)" The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker first sparked rumours he would be featured in the flick in August when a film crew were spotted recording footage at his Croke Park concert in Dublin, Ireland, and a stunt double of Renée was seen sitting on the shoulders of a mystery man in the audience. Ed's movie shoot comes hot on the heels of the news his TV show 'The Bastard Executioner' has been axed. The series gave Ed his first proper acting role playing Sir Cormac, "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder" in the medieval set programme. Showrunner and close pal Kurt Sutter - who gave the musician the part - decided to pull the plug on the show after it lost more than half of its audience during its first six weeks on the air. Sutter said: "The audience has spoken and unfortunately the word is 'meh'. So with due respect, we bring our mythology to an epic and fiery close."
