Robbie Williams to receive BRITs Icon Award

Robbie Williams is to receive the BRITs Icon Award. The Let Me Entertain You hitmaker will pick up the prestigious gong and celebrate with a gig at London’s Troxy next month. He said: “It’s a real honour for me to be given this award and I can’t wait to play songs from my new album, and from my catalogue, at the Troxy on 7th November. “The BRIT Awards are very special to me, and I'm humbled to be receiving the 18th of my career next month.” The 42-year-old singer will take fans through his back catalogue of songs for the one-off show and he is promising some surprises for his supporters too. For fans who are unable to get tickets, a 90-minute special will be aired on UK channel ITV later in the year and will also feature interviews with Robbie and those close to him who have helped to influence his life and career. Meanwhile, Robbie previously teased he will rejoin his old bandmates in Take That but doesn’t think he can make it for the band’s 25th anniversary. He said: “When is the 25th anniversary? Next year? 2017? I don’t know if I can. I have plans, I have a tour, there’s stuff to be doing. I don’t think it’ll be next year but I think it’ll be at some point. “I’m a floating member. And I’m really proud of what we do and what we create when I’m in the band. We’ll wait and see when our paths collide but I don’t think it’s going to be next year.”
