Ajman University nominated for QS Reimagine Education Award

Ajman University has been nominated for the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2024, in the “Sustainable Education Work” category, for its ambitious environmental project “Greening Communities: Mangrove Planting Project”.

The nomination comes in recognition of the university’s efforts and tireless pursuit of promoting sustainability, and in line with the UAE’s vision to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030.

The Sustainability Office at Ajman University is supervising this distinguished project, in cooperation with Al Zorah Real Estate Development Company and Quest Adventures Company.

The project has successfully played a vital role in environmental conservation by engaging local communities in protecting and revitalizing unique ecosystems such as mangrove forests, reinforcing the university’s position as a key pillar in driving sustainability.

Chancellor of Ajman University,Dr. Karim Seghir, said: “The university’s nomination for this international award reflects the depth of our commitment to sustainability and our keenness to empower local communities through influential environmental initiatives, in light of our belief that the role of universities goes beyond education to create sustainable positive impacts at the local and global levels.”

He added: “The Greening Communities Project is a testament to the power of collaboration and partnership. Through our joint efforts with our local and international partners, we aspire to inspire future generations to take responsibility for the environment and lead innovation in the areas of sustainability.”

The project includes a series of educational programs and workshops that aim to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues. It also seeks to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address environmental challenges, and enable them to become leaders of positive change in their communities.

The QS Reimagining Education Award is one of the most prestigious international awards in the education sector, honoring innovations that contribute to improving learning outcomes, enhancing employability, and supporting modern approaches to sustainability education.

The eleventh edition of the award witnessed the participation of more than 1,200 educational projects from around the world, which were evaluated by an international committee of more than 900 experts.
