The 23rd edition of the "Clean UAE" campaign for environment protection is set to being on December 5, the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) announced.

The campaign presents a unique opportunity for sponsors, public and private sector organisations, academia and individuals to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection while showcasing their commitment to sustainability.

Last year’s edition saw the participation of more than 68,000 volunteers who collected upwards of 50,000 kg of waste.

Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Founder and Chairperson of EEG, explained that this national annual campaign will span the seven emirates, beginning in Ajman on December 5, followed by Dubai on  December 7, Abu Dhabi on December, 9, Sharjah on December 10, Fujairah on December 11, Ras Al Khaimah on December 12, and concluding in Umm Al Quwain on December 14.

Habiba Al Mar’ashi called on all segments of society to actively participate in the campaign and express their commitment to protect and preserve the environment, stressing that through cooperation with local and federal government entities, academic institutions, as well as private sector companies and civil society organisations, the “Clean UAE” campaign enhances the culture of preserving natural habitats, promoting recycling initiatives, and encouraging the use of recyclable materials in local industries to preserve natural resources and reduce the burden on them, as well as reducing the percentage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

By partnering with the "Clean UAE" campaign, companies can align themselves with a cause that promotes sustainability, raises awareness of pollution’s harmful effects, and directly engages communities in volunteer activities. Sponsorship packages include a range of benefits, such as branding opportunities, media exposure, and the chance to participate in tree planting and clean-up events, reinforcing their commitment to a greener future.

Al Mar’ashi also called on all members of society to participate in the campaign, whether through individual volunteerism or organisational involvement. She stated, “This campaign is an ideal way for companies and community members alike to take meaningful action, contribute to preserving the beauty of the UAE, and promote positive environmental practices.”

The "Clean UAE" campaign’s primary objectives include increasing public awareness on the environmental and health risks of pollution, fostering a spirit of volunteerism and inspiring communities to support national sustainability initiatives. By regularly participating in clean-ups and enhancing the natural beauty of tourist and public spaces, individuals and organisations alike can play a key role in safeguarding the UAE’s environment.

She also added that this national campaign aims to encourage all members of society to engage in positive initiatives to serve the community and promote the spirit of volunteerism on a wider scale.
