Dubai prepares for Diwali celebrations

Dubai is gearing up for its annual Festival of Lights, with a vibrant lineup of events scheduled from October 25 to November 7, 2024.

Organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), this year’s Diwali celebration will kick off with stunning fireworks displays at Al Seef on October 25 and at Global Village on October 25-26 and November 1-2, all starting at 21:00.

One of the highlights is the Noor - Festival of Lights, hosted at Al Seef from October 25 to 27. This three-day cultural fair will feature interactive experiences, performances, and beautiful decorations, creating a festive atmosphere along the 1.8-kilometre promenade. Visitors can enjoy puppet shows, poetry recitations, traditional Indian delicacies, and much more.

On October 26, the Deepavali Utsav at Etisalat Academy will celebrate Indian culture with folk dance performances, games, and a variety of food stalls, making it a perfect outing for families.

From October 28 to November 3, Global Village will host a week-long Diwali celebration, featuring Rangoli art, live performances, and the Festival of Lights Market, showcasing festive shopping options and delicious Indian cuisine.

Shoppers can also explore the Diwali Fiesta Exhibition at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers on October 26, along with the Diwali Edit - Fashion & Luxury Exhibition at DoubleTree by Hilton M Square, highlighting local designers and artisans.

For comedy fans, UK comedian Romesh Ranganathan will perform live at Coca-Cola Arena on October 25, while music enthusiasts can enjoy a tribute to the legendary Jagjit Singh at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium until October 26.

Theatre lovers will have the chance to see "Meera: Echoes of Love" at Dubai British School on October 26 and "Barff," a suspenseful play, at Zabeel Theatre on November 8.
