The inaugural Dubai Sculpture Symposium is set to showcase the significance of sculpture in enhancing Dubai’s visual identity.

Running from December 4-22 at the Al Shindagha Historic District, the event is part of the emirate’s Public Art Strategy, designed to turn Dubai into an open-air museum and global cultural hub.

The symposium brings together 15 renowned sculptors from the UAE and around the world, including Emirati artist Azza Al Qubaisi, Syrian artist Aktham Abdul Hamid, Bulgaria's Georgi Minchev, and Chinese artist Liu Yang to share their expertise and explore sculptural techniques.

It also fosters connections between local and international artists, promoting the role of public art in enriching cultural industries.

Alongside live sculpting sessions, the event features seminars and panel discussions, covering topics such as the evolution of public art, sustainability in sculpture, and engaging communities through art.

Dr. Saeed bin Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of Dubai Culture’s Arts, Design, and Literature Sector, highlighted the event’s role in nurturing local talent and strengthening Dubai’s reputation as a creative hub.

The symposium, which will be closed to children for safety reasons, will also honour distinguished artists for their contributions to the field.
