Sharjah Ruler opens 8th Desert Theatre Festival

WAM

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the 8th Desert Theatre Festival in Al Khohaif.

Running until December 17, the festival celebrates Arabian desert traditions through theatrical art.

The opening featured "The Robe Dyed in Blood," a play by His Highness about poet Bashir bin 'Awana’s courage and devotion.

Presented by the Sharjah National Theatre Group, the performance blended storytelling, poetry, and traditional Arab art.

The festival includes plays from Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, and Mauritania, with post-performance discussions.

A cultural program on December 14-15 explores this year’s theme: "Desert Theatre: Experience and Awareness."
