A gamer from the UK has set a Guinness World Record on Crossy Road, by getting the highest possible score. Joshua Beesley clocked up a staggering 9,999 points on the iconic road-crossing game, following years of practice.
Beesley from Kent, UK, has now effectively completed the game having achieved the best possible tally on the addictive platform game.
Joshua is no stranger to breaking records on Crossy Road, having entered the Guinness World Records (GWR) in 2020, when he achieved a score of 4,195.
Speaking to GWR he said: "I started playing in April 2016. I got to 1,000 a few months later, and then 2,000 a few years after that. I got my first world record in 2020 during lockdown. It then took a further four years from my first world record to reach the max score of 9,999."
Joshua explained: "At the time I was aiming for 9,999 so was a bit disappointed that I didn’t reach it and took a break. In the summer of 2024 I came back to the game with the goal of reaching 9,999 and achieved it after a couple of weeks."
He added: "Crossy Road has a very simple gameplay, which means that anyone of any age or ability can understand and enjoy the game.
"Ever since I started playing in 2016, my aim was to break the world record so when I finally did it, it was a huge achievement and I was very proud of myself."
Joshua is currently studying games design at university, and even chose to do an assignment about Crossy Road for one of his papers.
