The Abu Dhabi International Airport has officially been renamed Zayed International Airport to coincide with the official opening of its Terminal A.

Spanning 742,000 square meters the international hub can cater to 45 million passengers a year, and was recently crowned the world’s top airport operator at The World Travel Awards. The first commercial flight departed the airport in October last year – an Etihad Airways flight to India.

The occasion is being marked by flash sales from Etihad Airways and Wizz Air with offers available from Friday 9th February to Wednesday 14th February. Travellers will also benefit from special offers in the airport’s shops and restaurants until Sunday 11th February.

Marking the occasion, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre released images captured by KhalifaSat showing the progress of work at Terminal A in the Zayed International Airport, via social media.

New flight routes have also been recently announced by Etihad, adding Nice and Boston services. Flights to China have also been increased with Hainan Airlines now flying from the UAE capital.
