Al Jalila Foundation is moving closer to its target of raising AED 750 million to establish the UAE's first cancer charity hospital.

In less than three months, AED 300 million has been raised to set up the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital.

The donations have come from a number of philanthropists, businesses, government and non-government organisations.

The 250-bed hospital, spanning 50,000 square metres will be built in two phases in Dubai and will have a capacity of treating 30,000 patients a year.

Its first phase is set to open at the end of 2023 and will include 150 beds equipped with cutting-edge technology.

The facility will provide comprehensive cancer care ranging from prevention, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care.

It will also work with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Medical Research Institute on studies to advance cancer care.
