Twelve commercial establishments have been fined in Dubai during the latest round of inspections to ensure compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.

They include retail outlets in various shopping malls, fitness centres as well as sewing and embroidery shops located in Wadi Al Safa 7, Al Hebiah Second, and Al Rashidiya areas.

They were mainly pulled up for not taking appropriate social distancing measures and for their employees' lack of commitment to wearing masks.

Warnings were also issued to five other establishments for not placing adequate physical distancing stickers.

As many as 767 outlets were found to be fully compliant with the rules during the field visits conducted by Dubai Economy on Tuesday.

The inspections in fitness centres were carried out in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.
