Around 77,000 children in Liberia are set to benefit from a school health programme that's been launched by Dubai Cares.
The three-year, AED 7.3 million initiative will tackle issues related to intestinal worms and visual impairment - two of the major contributors to school absenteeism and dropouts in the country.
As part of the programme, 2,400 teachers and community volunteers will be trained in carrying out deworming and vision screening
Meanwhile, four Optometric technicians will also be trained and at least 3,000 pairs of eyeglasses provided to children and teachers with visual impairment.
