H.H. Sheikh Khaled arrives in New Delhi on official visit

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, arrived in New Delhi for a two-day official visit on Sunday, and was received by Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry,

The visit comes as the UAE and India seek to review and develop economic their relations within the context of a $100 billion (AED 367 billion) trade partnership under their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). 

Signed after only around 80 days of negotiations in 2022, the CEPA was the first such deal from the UAE and became a framework for similar agreements brokered by the UAE with numerous other countries. 

The Crown Prince is set to meet with Indian Prime Minister Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, as well as attend several events marking their strong cultural relations. 

Sheikh Khaled's accompanying delegation includes Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies, Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority

Total non-oil trade between the two countries rose by 3.94 per cent from $51.4 billion (AED 188 billion) in 2022 to $53.4 billion (AED 188.7 billion) in 2023. UAE investments in India totalled approximately $16.2 billion (AED 59 billion) from 2019 to 2023, while Indian investments in the UAE reached $7.76 billion (AED 28 billion).

The UAE and India also share deep-rooted cultural ties, strengthened by the bilateral Cultural Agreement signed in 1975.
