Teacher in UAE jailed for seeking bribes to alter exam results

WAM

The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal has sentenced a British teacher to three years in prison for soliciting bribes from students at his school in exchange for altering exam results.

He was also fined AED 5,000 and will be deported after serving his sentence.

The bribes were in exchange for falsifying exam results for his subject, and unjustly raising students' grades, which undermine the integrity of the education sector in the UAE.

The case came to light following a thorough investigation initiated by the Public Prosecution, which uncovered evidence of the teacher's misconduct and referred the matter to a specialized criminal court.

Additionally, the Federal Public Prosecution is currently investigating several other cases related to cheating and disruptions within the examination system.
