UAE leaders pardon 3,000 inmates

Across the UAE a combined total of 2,890 prisoners are being released by leaders of the emirates, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has ordered the release of 481 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha.  ‎

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman has also ordered the release of 233 prisoners who have demonstrated good conduct during their incarceration.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the release of 352 prisoners from Punitive and Correctional Institutions in Sharjah.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, ordered the release of 94 prisoners.

These announcements came after President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 1,138 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha, along with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, releasing 686 prisoners.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has ordered the release of a number of prisoners from the punitive and corrective institutions in the Emirate as well.

The combined total is 2,890 prisoners released across the UAE on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Legal proceedings are underway to return the prisoners home, and the directives will give pardoned inmates an opportunity to start a new life and reintegrate into society.
