The UAE participated in the two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), which took place in Berlin from June 11-12.
During the event, the UAE expressed its commitment to the Ukrainian people, their country's recovery and reconstruction, and emphasised efforts at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict, through diplomacy and dialogue.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, who led the Emirati delegation, stressed the UAE's firm belief in maintaining channels of communication with all parties involved, pointing out the country's success in facilitating the exchange of war captives for the fourth time since the beginning of this year.
Al Hashimy also emphasised the UAE’s commitment to forging a robust partnership with Ukraine through finalising the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
She highlighted the allocation of $105 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including food and medical supplies, ambulances and generators, as well as laptops and educational supplies to assist Ukrainian civilians and children.
The UAE delegation also outlined upcoming support plans which will focus on enhancing Ukraine’s educational and healthcare systems, including women’s and mental health.
On the sidelines of the conference, Al Hashimy conducted a number of bilateral meetings, including with Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, Thomas Bagger, State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and Jens Ploetner, the Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the German Federal Chancellor.
