UAE promotes green tourism

The UAE has made significant strides in transforming its desert landscapes into vibrant green spaces, positioning itself as a global leader in sustainable tourism.

As part of its ongoing efforts, the UAE launched the fifth season of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign, this year themed "Green Tourism."

The initiative encourages agritourism by promoting visits to farms and agricultural projects, in line with the country's eco-tourism and cultural preservation goals.

With a focus on sustainability, the UAE’s tourism sector integrates responsible travel practices, showcasing natural beauty while minimising environmental impact.

This initiative is part of the broader UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to solidify the UAE's global position as a premier destination.

The UAE’s commitment to eco-tourism is reinforced by legal protections for biodiversity, advanced digital technologies, and sustainable infrastructure, contributing to the nation’s ambitious 2050 climate neutrality goals.

Efforts to support sustainable tourism are visible across the Emirates, with initiatives like Dubai's "Dubai Can" promoting resource preservation and Sharjah's eco-friendly tourism policies encouraging responsible practices.

These developments are further evidenced by the UAE’s rise to 18th place in the World Economic Forum's 2024 Travel and Tourism Development Index, showcasing its leadership in green tourism and sustainability.
