UAE to participate in SAHA defence expo in Turkey

The UAE is participating in the fourth edition of the SAHA International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition 2024 in Turkey, from October 22 to 26.

The UAE's inclusion was organised by the Emirates Defence Companies Council, with the support of the Ministry of Defence and the Tawazun Council.

SAHA, which is held every two years in Istanbul is the largest global gathering of the defense industry in Turkey and Europe, bringing together more than 124 countries and attracting more than 150,000 visitors. 

The Emirates Defence Companies Council seeks to consolidate the UAE’s position on the global stage in the military industries sector and promote advanced products, within a specific strategy aimed at being present at major defence exhibitions. 

A group of leading national companies in the defence industries sector are participating in the country’s pavilion participating in the exhibition under the slogan “Technologies Shaping the Future”, including Halcon, ADASI, Katam, Al Tariq, Abu Dhabi Ship Building, Advanced Concepts, Orixlabs, Salhab Defence Systems, Lahab Light Ammunition, and Malath, all affiliated with EDGE Group, in addition to Darwish Bin Ahmed & Sons Group, and the media partner Al Jundi Magazine, issued by the Ministry of Defence.

Over the course of five days, Emirati companies will showcase more than 50 advanced products bearing the “Made in the UAE” label, which include air, land and unmanned systems, precision and guided munitions, in addition to secure communications solutions and multi-mission vehicles.

CEO of Tawazun Council, Muammar Abdullah Abushahab, stressed the importance of strengthening international relations and establishing the UAE’s global presence in the fields of defence industries, noting that UAE-Turkish relations are witnessing remarkable growth at various levels.

He said: “We, at the Tawazun Council, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, affirm our keenness to provide the necessary support to enhance the UAE’s position on the global defense industries map, and to highlight its advanced manufacturing capabilities that are comparable to those of advanced countries in this field.”

His Excellency added: “This progress reflects the outcome of years of strategic planning and investment, the foundations of which were laid by the sound vision of the country’s wise leadership, which contributed to establishing a strong base that seeks to achieve self-sufficiency and enhances our competitive capabilities on the global stage.”

Chairwoman of the Emirates Defense Companies Council, Mona Ahmed Al Jaber,  said that the Council’s participation in the “SAHA Expo” 2024 embodies the strength of the UAE’s presence in the global defense industries sector, by showcasing the latest products and advanced technologies that have been designed, manufactured and developed in the UAE by the hands of the nation’s creative and innovative sons.

Al Jaber continued: “Through the Council, we work to enhance effective communication and develop strategic partnerships, with a focus on introducing national companies operating in the defense sectors through the country’s national pavilion, which provides the opportunity to display its advanced products globally, with a focus on European markets that are witnessing remarkable growth in this field.”
