An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter Scale struck the city of Aqaba in Jordan early Sunday.
There were no reports of casualties or physical damage, but the city's governor Ghassan Al-Kayed said several residents rushed out of their homes "for fear of any aftershock".
"The city felt the earthquake which took place at 8:05 am (local time)," he added.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 8 km in an area 30 km south of Aqaba.
