England gain advantage in first Test against New Zealand

England's cricketers are in control of the first Test against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.

Joe Root's men ended day two with a lead of 209 runs after being dismissed for 353 in the first innings.

Ben Stokes top-scored with 91 and Jos Buttler added 43 to the score-board, while Tim Southee (4-88) was the pick of New Zealand's bowlers.

In reply, the hosts were 144 for 4 at stumps with Henry Nicholls (26) and BJ Watling (6) at the crease.
