Heavy rainfall has forced some private schools to extend distance learning for a further day.
GEMS Education confirmed that all of its schools will remain closed on Wednesday, April 17, and will continue to adopt remote learning measures.
"Given the severity of the weather conditions across the UAE today and in the interests of the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff, we have made the decision to extend remote learning across the GEMS Education network," Jon Bramley, Vice President of Communications, told ARN News.
"Our families have been informed and will be kept updated through our usual channels," he added in a statement.
The Emirates Schools Establishment announced on Monday that all public schools in the country would switch to remote learning for two days (Tuesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 17) due to the unstable weather forecast.
Similar measures were announced for private schools in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, while private schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were officially instructed to close for one day (Tuesday, April 16).
