Dubai plate CC22 fetches AED8.5 million at RTA auction

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) 118th distinct number plates auction has marked a milestone, raising nearly AED 100 million in total.

Special plate CC22 was the top earner, fetching AED 8.35 million.

It was followed by BB20, which was sold for AED 7.52 million, while BB19 fetched AED 6.68 million.

Meanwhile, plate AA707 was sold for AED 3.31 million, while AA222 fetched AED 3.3 million.

About 90 number plates went under the hammer with two-, three-, four- and five-digit plates of categories (AA-BB-CC-IJOPTUVWXYZ) part of the deal. 

Among those, the most prominent were the super numbers - 22 CC, 19 and 20 BB, where the nominal value was set at AED16.56 million, while the realised value touched AED98.83 million.

To participate in the auction, applicants must have a traffic file in Dubai and deposit a security check addressed to the RTA for AED 25,000, in addition to a non-refundable AED 120 fee at customer happiness centers. Payments can also be made by credit card via the RTA's website and app.
