Emirates has temporarily cancelled flights to Japan's Osaka due to "severe weather conditions caused by Typhoon Lan".

In an update posted on their official website, the Dubai carrier said flights to and from Osaka - EK316 and EK 317 - will be cancelled on August 14 and 15.

The airline regretted the inconvenience caused to its passengers and urged them to check for rebooking options with their travel agents or Emirates local office.

Travellers are also reminded to update their contact details on their booking to get the latest updates on their flights.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on Monday warned of heavy rain and winds, and the risk of floods and landslides.
