In a groundbreaking move for the UAE's transport sector, a new high-speed train project has been announced, connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The announcement was made during an official ceremony at Al Faya Depot, witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister.

The high-speed train will revolutionize travel between the two cities, cutting the journey time to just 30 minutes, with speeds of up to 350 km/h.

The route will pass by key destinations, offering a seamless travel experience for both passengers and visitors.

The project, led by Etihad Rail is set to significantly boost the UAE’s tourism and economic growth, contributing an estimated AED 145 billion to the nation’s GDP over the next 50 years.

Development is already underway, with tenders issued for project contracts and network designs approved.

Alongside the high-speed train announcement, the UAE’s first passenger train fleet was unveiled, offering a reliable and efficient travel option at speeds of up to 200 km/h.

The fleet is designed to complement the high-speed train, linking major cities and regional routes across the UAE.

The ceremony also highlighted the launch of the first four passenger rail stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, which will integrate with metro and bus lines to create a comprehensive, interconnected transport network.
