Dubai Expo and Al Furjan Metro station received an accolade by The Prix Versailles Design Awards, both in the "Passenger Stations" category, across 24 projects which have been recognised as the “best in contemporary architecture”.

The Prix recognizes the most remarkable structures, in terms of both interior and exterior architecture.

The Dubai Metro station winning entry in the "Passenger Stations" category recognises the station's innovative design and functionality, as well as its contribution to the urban landscape and local community. A 'Special Exterior Prize' was given to Al Furjan Metro Station.

Chosen by UNESCO from a field of 94 finalists, the winning projects span categories including airports, campuses, sports, hotels, and restaurants.

This year’s edition of the annual awards sought to pay a “tribute to innovation, creativity, reflections of local heritage, ecological efficiency, and the values of social interaction and participation which the United Nations holds in high regard.” According to the organizers, winning projects were chosen in line with the principles of “intelligent sustainability,” encompassing each project’s ecological, social, and cultural implications.

The Prix Versailles is an original programme with the very clear aim of fostering better interaction between the economy and culture. It underlines the role economic agents can play, in all sectors, to enhance, embellish and improve living environments.
