UAE endorses talks on Gaza ceasefire, hostage release deal

The UAE has joined the call made by the leaders of Qatar, Egypt and the US to resume negotiations next week to finalise a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement urging the parties concerned to respond to the call to hold discussions on August 15.

He said the UAE hopes for swift action without further delay as these talks aim to ease the suffering in Gaza and bring relief to hostages and their families.

The UAE also extends its deep appreciation and support for the ongoing mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to bring an end to the crisis in Gaza.

Leaders of the United States, Egypt and Qatar on Thursday called on Israel and Hamas to meet for negotiations on August 15 in order to finalise a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal.

The three countries, which have been trying to mediate a deal, said in a joint statement the talks could take place in either Doha or Cairo.
