UAE President, UN Secretary-General reiterate call for Gaza ceasefire

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have discussed the need for joint international action to bring about an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

During the call on Monday, they emphasised the need to protect civilian lives and ensure the safe and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza. 

The call also covered efforts to prevent an escalation of regional instability and pursue a path towards peace via a two-state solution.

The UAE President reaffirmed the nation's commitment to supporting UN humanitarian efforts in Gaza. 

Meanwhile, Guterres expressed his appreciation for the UAE's support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the need to "work together during this difficult period that the Palestinian people are going through".
