The UAE Stands with Lebanon campaign collected 200 tonnes of relief material from the public in Dubai and 250 tonnes in Abu Dhabi over the weekend.

The aid collection was organised by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC), with the participation of more than 4400 volunteers from various nationalities who packed 10000 baskets of supplies.

Since October 4, the UAE has dispatched nine aircraft carrying 375 tonnes of essential food, relief, and shelter supplies to Lebanon, with additional flights scheduled this week.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had ordered the immediate provision of $100 million (AED 367 million) to Lebanon and an additional $30 million (AED 110.1 million) to Lebanese refugees in Syria.

Chairman of the Board of Directors at the ERC, Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, stressed the depth of the historical relations between the UAE and Lebanon which, he said, has been evident today in the wide public participation in the activities to collect humanitarian relief aid for its people facing the crisis.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, Sultan Al Shamsi, said "The 'UAE Stands with Lebanon' campaign affirms the solidarity of all parts of UAE society with the Lebanese people, and continuously works to provide relief to those in need, including the injured and wounded. This national campaign carries a message of hope and solidarity with the Lebanese people.”
